Lectio Divina is spiritual discipline that has been practiced since the 3rd century. Scott Quesinberry writes, “It is a Sabbath practice that breaks my weekly routine. I find it deeply meaningful.”
Together with Scott, we’ll make this a 7th Day Sabbath Journey. Lectio Divina steps are simple. Read a Bible passage. Meditate on the passages practical meaning for your life. Pray, open your heart and sense how God’s Spirit is speaking into your life. Visualize how this will look in your daily walk. We hope that you are equally blessed as you do “The Sabbath Journey” .
1 Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin…
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
I read. I meditated. I prayed. I visualized. Here is how God’s Spirit spoke to me. “If you want to become successful in ministry and become a faithful disciple, you must deny yourself everyday. Pride comes from the Devil. It destroys. When disciples focus on worldly benefits and forget the spiritual blessings that God gives, they will no longer be faithful to the Lord’s leading in their lives. Bearing your cross means that you are not focused on yourself but that you first seek the Kingdom of God. God is the key to our strength in our everyday walk. Listen to His word because it is the only voice that can be trusted. Jesus’ peace comes from heaven. The God who created you knows exactly what you need to become a good and faithful disciple. ” – Q
